hi guys! this band is becoming one of my favorites. here's a video for one of their songs. it makes me happy. the song is called pa pa power. the band is called dead man's bones. fun fact: the actor, ryan gosling, from the notebook.. this is his band. dead man's bones!

the bar island swim

this is the only picture i could find of this so far, but i will post more when i can. this is the whole group on the boat! there were 99 participants this year... more than ever before! also, the water was the warmest it has ever been for this event. LUCKY me. :) the swim from bar island back to the coa dock took about 25 minutes. pretty chilly. but i took a long, hot shower when i got back, had some cocoa, and felt great!

this is my friend rob (he's from hawaii) and i trying to study outside, but we got a little sidetracked.
yesterday was a beautiful day.
although i didn't get as much work done as i should have, i played with a little baby that only spoke spanish. (adorable.) and i napped in the sunshine. today, i mean business! oh, and the bar island swim is today after my lecture for human ecology. wish me luck! the water is f-f-f-freezing.

so, today is my first whole friday here at COA!
i have a field trip for my geology of mount desert island class from 11:10-2:25.
and then at 4 o'clock i am going sailing!
as for the rest of my classes, here is my schedule for the first trimester.

monday

• geology of m.d.i. in the morning after breakfast
• human ecology in the afternoon
• lunch
• ethics
• done for the day!

tuesday

• a completely free day which i will probably use for homework/ my work study in the kitchen & cafe here at the school

wednesday

• human ecology class in the afternoon

thursday

• geology of m.d.i. in the morning after breakfast
• human ecology in the afternoon
• lunch
• ethics
• done for the day!

friday

• lab period for geology of m.d.i. from 11:10-2:25 (usually field trips)

weekend

• work study/ whatever i want

Hello, my wonderful family! Oh, how I have missed you all!
Here I am in my new kitchen/ common room!
I hope you all have a nice Monday to start off the week. I shall be very busy all week, but I plan on making some calls today/tomorrow/whenever possible.
I love you guys!
I plan on putting up pictures still.... but I don't think I can put up any of my own for now, because it appears that my camera got a little wet while inside a dry bag on the trip. I will see if I can fix it by drying it out with rice in a bag.... Oopsies. Maybe that's why they call it OOPS for the trips.
Anyway, I can't wait to tell you all about my first whole day here at COA! It was fun & it felt a lot more like home.
